Canonbury is one of the most sought-after addresses in Islington — and it’s a twenty-minute walk from our shop on Arlington Way. Some of our most loyal customers live there.
The route is simple. Down Upper Street or through the back streets. Either way, it’s a straight shot.
Canonbury sits north-east of Angel, bordered by Upper Street to the west and Balls Pond Road to the north. The square — Canonbury Square — is one of the nicest Georgian garden squares in inner London. The streets around it are full of period houses, high ceilings, and the kind of wardrobes that come with them.
Londonist regularly lists Canonbury among Islington’s most desirable residential streets. It’s quiet, leafy, and expensive. People who live there tend to own good clothes and want them looked after properly.
That’s a lot of what we do.
Dry cleaning is the mainstay. Suits, wool coats, cashmere, silk, occasion wear. We also do specialist pieces — Canada Goose jackets, Burberry coats, wedding dresses. Each garment is assessed individually. We don’t run everything through the same programme.
Thelaundry service covers duvets, shirts, and service washes. Even in larger Canonbury houses, people don’t always have the time or the right machine for bulky items. We take all duvet sizes and return them properly finished.
Ourtailor works on site. Suit alterations, hem adjustments, jacket relining, sleeve shortening, zip replacements. We see a lot of quality garments from this area — things worth spending money to maintain rather than replace. Everything is quoted before work starts.
Clothing alterations cover casual and occasion pieces as well as formal wear. And ourshoe repair service handles leather heels, soles, and polish. A good pair of shoes from Canonbury is worth fixing.
Upper Street is the most direct route. Walk south from Canonbury towards Angel — the road runs almost the whole way. Arlington Way is a left turn just before Angel tube, near Sadler’s Wells.
From Canonbury Square itself the walk is around eighteen to twenty minutes. From the streets closer to Highbury Corner it’s a little longer. From the Lower Canonbury streets near Essex Road it’s slightly less.
Some customers catch the bus down Upper Street and hop off at Angel. That cuts it to under five minutes if you’re pressed for time.
Call ahead for anything specialist or if you want to confirm a turnaround time before making the journey.
