A Burberry coat is a serious purchase. Gabardine is hardwearing and water-resistant, but it is not immune to collar staining, cuff wear, or the general grime that builds up on a coat worn through a London winter.

Wherever you take your Burberry coat, there are a few things worth asking. Does the cleaner pre-treat the collar before cleaning? Do they handle the lining and the shell as a single garment or focus on the exterior only? If the coat has leather, do they have a separate approach for that? Do they press on a form or on a flat board?
These questions matter because the difference between a well-cleaned Burberry coat and a carelessly cleaned one is visible. Press marks on gabardine are hard to remove. A flattened check lining looks wrong. A dried-out leather trim after a solvent cycle that stripped its conditioning is a small but permanent bit of damage.

Once or twice a season for a coat worn regularly. More often than that and the cleaning cycle starts working against the fabric over time. Less often and the accumulated staining — particularly at the collar — becomes harder to shift.
The end of the season clean is the important one. Store a dirty coat and the staining sets over the months it is folded away. Clean it before storage and it comes out the following autumn in the same condition it went in.

Can you remove a deep collar stain from a Burberry trench?
Usually yes, but the result depends on how long the stain has been there and what caused it. Makeup and perspiration staining treated early responds well. Staining left in a stored coat for a full season is harder but often significantly improvable. We pre-treat collar staining before the main clean.
Will dry cleaning affect the water-resistant finish on the gabardine?
Repeated dry cleaning over many years can gradually affect the DWR finish on any water-resistant fabric. For a coat cleaned once or twice a season, this is not a significant concern. If the coat has lost its water repellency noticeably, mention it when you come in — there are options for restoring it.
Can you repair the lining at the same time as cleaning?
Yes. If the lining needs repairing — a tear, a pulled seam, or a section that has come away from the shell — we assess and quote for that alongside the cleaning. Both can be done in the same visit.
