A suit is one of the more demanding things in a wardrobe to clean. The construction — interlining, canvassing, shaped shoulders, pressed lapels — means that washing it at home, or even taking it somewhere that handles it carelessly, can ruin the shape in one go. Once a suit loses its structure, it rarely comes back.
We dry clean suits at our shop on Arlington Way, a two-minute walk from Angel tube. We have been doing it since 2013. The process is the same every time: assess the fabric, check the label, treat any stains before cleaning, and finish with a proper steam press so the suit holds its shape when you collect it.
A standard two-piece suit — jacket and trousers — is £17.99. A three-piece including the waistcoat is £22.99. Both prices cover cleaning and pressing. The suit comes back on a hanger, shaped, ready to wear.
We also clean suits in fabrics that need a more careful approach. Linen suits are £22.99 — linen can shrink and crease badly if handled with the wrong solvent or temperature. Velvet suits are £19.99 — the pile needs protecting during the clean and pressing stage, otherwise it flattens and never recovers fully. Evening suits, whether two-piece or three-piece, start from £24.99.
If you have a suit in an unusual fabric — a blend, a heritage tweed, a heavily lined piece — bring it in. We read the care label and assess it before anything happens.
We clean tracksuits for £19.99. The fabric is usually more forgiving than tailored suits, but branded and technical tracksuits often have dye-sensitive panels or heat-reactive materials that need a careful cycle. We check the composition before cleaning.
The cleaning process matters more than most people realise. Suits go through a dry cleaning cycle using solvent rather than water, which is why the fabric and shape are preserved. But the real work happens before and after the machine.
Before: stains on lapels, collars, and cuffs are treated individually. Collar stains in particular — from perspiration and product buildup — need pre-treatment or they often come back darker after cleaning.
After: the suit is pressed properly. This means steam pressing on a form or dummy, not a flat press that leaves hard edges. Lapels are hand-finished. Trouser creases are reset. The jacket is hung immediately so it cools in shape.
The Woolmark Company — the global authority on wool fabric certification — recommends professional dry cleaning for most tailored wool garments, particularly those with a woven or worsted construction. Less often than most people assume. Dry cleaning uses solvents that, over many cycles, gradually break down fibres. Most suits worn regularly do not need cleaning more than two or three times a year.
Between cleans, brush the suit after wearing, hang it on a proper shaped hanger, and let it rest for at least a day before wearing again. Spot-treat small marks early rather than waiting for a full clean. A suit cared for this way stays in good condition for a long time.
When it does need a full clean — before storage, after an event, or when the fabric has picked up persistent marks — bring it in. We will do the rest.

Can you dry clean a suit that has never been cleaned before?
Yes. Older or unworn suits sometimes need a little more pre-treatment if stains have set, but there is no issue cleaning them for the first time. We assess the fabric and condition before starting.
Do you clean the jacket and trousers separately?
They go through the process together and are priced as a set. If you only need the jacket or trousers cleaned alone, bring in just that piece and we will price it accordingly.
Will dry cleaning shrink my suit?
Dry cleaning uses solvent, not water, so shrinkage is not a risk in the way it is with machine washing. The key variable is pressing — correct steam pressing on the right setting keeps the suit’s shape. We press all suits properly before they leave the shop.
How do I store a suit between wears?
Hang it on a wide, shaped hanger — not a wire one. Let it air for a few hours after wearing before putting it away. Give it at least a day’s rest between wears. Brush it lightly after each use to remove surface dust and lint.
