Most of the shirts we launder are standard cotton — work shirts, casual shirts, Oxford cloth shirts worn through the week. Cotton is straightforward compared to most fabrics, but getting a good result still requires checking the shirt properly before it goes in.
Collar and cuff staining is the most common issue. Perspiration and product residue build up at these points faster than anywhere else on the shirt. We pre-treat collars and cuffs before the main wash. A shirt that goes through laundering without that pre-treatment often comes back with a collar that looks slightly grey even after washing — the residue does not shift in a standard cycle alone.
After washing, shirts are pressed on a professional press. Collars are done first, then cuffs, then the body. Each shirt is hung immediately after pressing so it cools in shape without developing new creases.
Linen is a fabric that creases in wear and needs handling carefully in laundering. The right temperature, the right agitation, and the right press all matter more with linen than with cotton.
We launder linen shirts for £3.99. Linen shirts come back pressed and looking considerably better than they do after a home machine cycle, where the creasing is often uneven and the press is difficult to get right without the correct equipment. If you have a linen shirt that has been washed at home and never quite ironed properly, bring it in for the press-only service and see the difference.
A formal dress shirt going to an event needs to be right. The bib, the pleats, the collar — any of those done badly and the whole thing looks wrong under a dinner jacket.
Evening shirts are £4.99. We handle the pleating and the bib front with the care they need. Stiff-front shirts and soft-front formal shirts are treated differently in the pressing stage. If you are bringing in a formal shirt ahead of an event, mention the date when you drop off and we will make sure it is ready in time.
We launder women’s cotton shirts for £3.99 and women’s tops for £8.50. The higher price for tops reflects the wider range of fabrics and constructions that come under that category — printed fabrics, mixed fibre blends, garments with decorative detail that need more care in pressing.
If you have a top in a fabric you are not sure about — something with a label that gives unclear instructions — bring it in. GINETEX, the international body that developed the care labelling symbols used on clothing worldwide, notes that care labels are legally required to reflect the most demanding component of a garment’s construction. We read labels carefully and follow them. If a label is missing or illegible, we assess the fabric before choosing a method.
We also launder sweatshirts at £9.99 and t-shirts at £3.50. These are not dry clean items — they go through a professional laundering process suited to the fabric weight and construction. Printed t-shirts are handled carefully to avoid cracking or peeling the print during washing or pressing.
Not everything needs a full wash. If a shirt is clean but has been folded, packed, or stored and needs pressing before wearing, the press-only service is the quickest option. Standard shirts are £1.99. Linen shirts are £2.20. Drop it off, collect it pressed and on a hanger.

Before any shirt goes into laundering, we go through it quickly. We check for staining at the collar and cuffs. We check buttons — a button that goes through a hot press cycle cracked or loose will not survive it. We check for any fabric damage, particularly at points of friction like underarms. If we spot anything worth flagging, we mention it before the shirt goes in.
This takes about thirty seconds per shirt. It means nothing comes back worse than it went in.

Do you launder shirts individually or in bulk?
Both. Single shirts are no problem. Batches of six, ten, or more are handled in the same visit. We check every shirt individually regardless of how many you bring.
Can you get a collar stain out of a white shirt?
Usually yes, with pre-treatment before washing. The sooner the shirt comes in after the stain develops, the better the result. Old, set collar staining is harder but often significantly improvable.
What if a button breaks during laundering?
We check buttons before laundering and flag any that are cracked, loose, or likely to cause a problem. If a button does break, we replace it. That does not happen often — the checking stage is specifically there to prevent it.
How long do shirts take?
Most shirts are ready within one to two working days. If you need a shirt back the same day or by a specific time, mention it at drop-off and we will do our best to accommodate.
