Highbury is north of Angel — Upper Street connects the two, and it’s a straightforward journey south to reach us on Arlington Way. About twenty minutes on foot. Less on the tube.
A reasonable number of our customers make that trip regularly. Some of them have been coming since we opened in 2013.
Highbury is quieter than Angel. Wide residential streets, Highbury Fields — one of the largest open spaces in Islington — and the old Arsenal stadium on Avenell Road, now converted into flats called Highbury Square. It has the feel of a neighbourhood that people choose deliberately and stay in.
The Evening Standard consistently ranks Highbury among north London’s most desirable places to live. It’s not hard to see why. The streets around Highbury Barn and Highbury Corner are lined with period houses, and the overall feel is calmer than the Upper Street stretch just south.
People in Highbury often own good-quality clothes. Wool coats bought to last a decade. Suits kept in good condition. Cashmere that doesn’t belong in a domestic machine. That’s exactly what we deal with.
Dry cleaning is our core offer. Suits, coats, cashmere jumpers, silk, trousers, dresses — we handle all standard garments and specialist pieces alike. Canada Goose, Burberry, wedding dresses. Each item is assessed by fabric and care label before anything happens.
Thelaundry service handles duvets, shirt laundering, and service washes. Even in larger Highbury houses, not everyone has a machine suited to a king-size duvet or wants to deal with the drying. We take all sizes, wash them properly, and return them dry and finished.
On-site tailoring is available at the same Arlington Way address. Ourtailor works on suit alterations, hemming, relining, jacket sleeve shortening, and zip replacements. Highbury customers often bring in pieces they’ve owned for years — good garments that need adjustment rather than replacement. Everything is quoted before we start.
Clothing alterations extend to casual and occasion wear. And ourshoe repair service covers leather heels, soles, and polishing. Good shoes from Highbury are worth maintaining.
Upper Street runs the whole way between Highbury Corner and Angel. Head south and you’ll arrive at Angel in around twenty minutes. Arlington Way is a left turn close to the tube, just past Sadler’s Wells.
The Victoria Line and Overground both serve Highbury & Islington station. From there, buses run down Upper Street regularly. Angel tube is two stops south on the Victoria Line — fast and direct.
Some Highbury customers drop items off on a Saturday and collect midweek. Others come in during a lunch break or on the way home from work. The journey is short enough that it fits most routines without trouble.
